Ha! I am going to take a tennis lesson tomorrow. With a strange instructor I found on craigslist. I am very excited about that since I have never played tennis or had the guts to spend money on lessons for myself....

I got a raise yesterday on my job and it should cover the lessons.... Probably need a cute outfit too, but we'll see about that :)

The trip to state capital!

I went to a field trip with my daughter. and her 52 screaming classmates. on the school bus.

but

It was a beautiful day, I love Madison, 17 more parents went as well and I didn't have to go to work.

I actually never being to the Capitol building or the Governor's mansion so the trip was very educational for me as well...

It was a big international group on the bus - two guys from israel, a woman from Nigeria, a woman from South Africa, a woman from Mexico and me. So we sat there talking about our respective heritages while the kids were going crazy in the back of the bus.

FUN :)

I guess when you have kids your perception of fun changes. About 10 years ago this trip would terrified the living being out of me.... But it was great!

The best part was my daughter really wanted to spend time with me and thanked me for coming :)

I love you, Emily.

Weekend is over

Weekend was mostly uneventful with an exception of going to a party on Saturday night. Our friends celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary ... The numbers are getting scary but everybody is still full of life and partied until 3 am...

Things my kids say:

My dad to Simon:

"How do you know what it says? you can't read..."

Simon:

YES I CAN!!!!

Simon also lost his first tooth yesterday... I know it is kind of early, since he is not even 5 years old yet, but Emily had the same experience. She has all her new teeth at 10 years old...
Simon was afraid of the tooth fairy and did not want to go to sleep but he is all better in the morning - money did the trick:)

as I am sitting here casually browsing through www.6pm.com looking for some new clothes, my daughter comes up to me and watches my choices for a while. Then she says :"why don't you just get the same clothes as you had before but in a bigger size?" I asked: "why in a bigger size????????!?!?!?!?!?" She said that she assumed that since I was looking for new clothes, I must have grown.....

I have not grown!!!!!!!!!
I am working from home. Unlike my friends in the neighborhood who are staying home with their children for free, I have the luxury option of sending my kids to school and stay at home and work. My job does not have an office in our city so they allowed me to perform my duties in the kitchen. Close to the fridge. Which can create a problem.

Working from home(or telecommuting) is great for the family. I can drop kids off to school if they overslept, they can stay home with me when they are sick, no after school care is needed... I also don't have to get dressed up for my job and my commute is very short. I talk to people all they long via phone, email and instant messaging so I don't feel like I am missing out on work interactions.. I used to work in corporate environment and I don't miss it at all...

However, the evil fridge is haunting me.... Somebody needs to invent a special door mechanism that would lock the fridge down around 9 AM and open it again at 5 when it is time to feed the kids... Otherwise, the leftovers are there and they are calling my name.

I also recently discovered that I have nothing to wear. I mean, the closet is full, but I only have either very casual clothes(like jeans and t-shirts and sweaters) or really racy going out stuff... I need to acquire some appropriate clothes although after working from home for the past 3 years, I am not sure how I would wear them.

My husband is trying to quit smoking... Let's hope he is succesful and also let's hope that he works a lot of late shifts until the process is done... He has done this before and will soon turn into annoying pedantic psychopath who needs to be avoided at all costs... Smoking kills! But husbands who are trying to quit are not easy to coop with...

Things my kids say:

Emily - very nervous before going on a plane and being told to go to the bathroom: "Bathroom is not the answer to everything!"

Simon - being measured and told that he is almost 4 feet tall - "No, Mommy, I have 2 feet"

Simon does not like Mascot and I don't blame him. His school has a 8 foot blue dragon for a mascot. So yesterday, when going to a school event we told him that the scary dragon is not going to be there. Emily said: "Dragon is sick... He has dragon pox...."

Had a parent teacher conference for both of my kids recently. Emily's went fine... She is very smart and might grow up to be an writer.. She writes mystery stories using sentences like "he went down the cobweb infested stairs"...

Simon's was OK too. I am not sure I like his teacher thought process. She said that he needs to concentrate more and be less distracted. He also walks funny. "Maybe you should talk to a doctor about that? " I am sure he will grow out of it, he is only 4 years old. However, the good part is that he knows all his letters, numbers, colors, interacts with everybody in the class, has friends and likes the sharing time.

Things my kids say:

Emily while putting up her hair so she can take a bath: "Well, now, I look like a boy.... with a pedicure "

Simon is constantly paraphrasing Sponge Bob Square Pants episode about the Hash Slinging Slasher: "Look at me - I am eating breakfast - At night
I am putting my underwear on ------at night"

It is snowing here in Milwaukee... The stupid groundhog saw his shadow and I guess it is going to snow for a while. It is a good thing because it will cover up whatever Duke is doing in the yard.

Looks like a scene from a movie - you can pick "It's a wonderful life" or "Fargo" depending on your mood... I am picking Fargo....

Roger and out.

Started exercising yesterday.. Ran on a tread mill and did some very intensly painful exercises using the big exercise ball... Does it have a special name? I am not sure...

Maybe a session with a personal trainer would do me good. At least I would know what I am doing :)

Emily is enjoying swim team. She goes to the pool almost every day and swims for an hour... Good exercise for her!

Things my kids say:

Simon while playing Wii with Emily:

" Emily, don't be a winner! I don't want to be a loser! "
