Duke ran away after a deer yesterday.. Came back in about 20 minutes all wet and covered in green mustard seeds.. It took me almost 2 hours to brush it out. I asked him what exactly he was going to do with this deer once he got him and he couldn't say anything... I guess I need to feed him more :)
Phrases from my children:
Simon: Holding up Duke's ears(Duke is a golden retriever) - Mommy, He looks like chihuhua :)
Simon: He asked for a second hamburger and I tried to give him half of a patty. - "This is broken !"
we have been having beautiful weather in September 70s and 80s. I wish it was the same during summer time...
Greenbay won last night! It was actually a boring game but the last 5 minutes were very exciting. Touchdown and then immediate interception... Very cool :) Maybe they don't need Favre anyway.. I just keep waiting for him to show up

Well, I have not been writing for a long time... Not because there is nothing to write about, but because I don't think it is that exciting... But after thinking about it I should be writing stuff down... for the sake of rememberance..
Well, my kids are back in school. Simon started K-4 and loving it. Although they did a weird thing this year and had 1 hour orientation/assessment for each child. Which means that my child only went to school for one hour the first week. Then, the second week, he only went two days because of the staggered start program... so next week, he will go every day for half a day. He already made two friends in school. One of them is a girl. When I asked him if she was cute, he said" No, Mommy, she is not cute. She is Beautiful! " Maybe she is, who knows :) He started gymnastics like his big sister and enjoying it...
Emily is back in school too. 4th grade... Scary thing is I remember myself in 4th grade. I hope she has more fun... She is a lot more outgoing then I ever was, it will be a great experience for her :)
She also made to gymanstic team this year to my amazement... She is wonderful on bars and beam... I am very jealous :) Music lessons are going well for her as well. I love our http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/lss/1333170229.htmlmusic teacher - he is the best. He is inspiring and easy going... Winning combination for Emily...
My work is going well. I got to work with some foreign clients, Russian in particular and my boss was very pleased that I knew what they were saying:) I learned some new Russian words as well. I am clueless in Russian computer terminology so now I getting better with that...
Duke - the dog - is a very cool creature... He has exactly my personality - i don't bother you and you don't bother me :) He does not say "Mom, Mom, Mom, etc", he is not picky about food and he is a great companion. The whole family is in love with him... He was a little sick for about 2 weeks - hot spot - but he is all better now...
I will be 35 years old in two weeks and It does not make me sad. Maybe it will hit me when I actually turn 35... But I will be gambling in Las Vegas so maybe that will soften the blow :)
My lovely husband is in jail as usual... no, people, he just works there... He provides medical care for the inmates and I think loving every minute of it...
I got myself a Mastering the Art of French cooking book last week and made a couple of things... I made the famous Leek and Potato soup which my daughter ate with delight and my husband ate because he loves me.... It was not bad, but I guess we are so accustomed to asian, mexican, etc spices that french food might seem bland. I made fish fillet with Parissene sauce... and it was good, but also kind of bland... Need to find a recipe with some kick to it...
Childrens sayings of the month:
Simon:
"Mommy, what do you have there(pointing at my breast)? I said "skin" ;) and he said "Skin and two humps".... So that's what we are calling it now :)
Emily
On the way to a store to pierce her ears (her idea, not mine) she asked me how exactly they are going to make holes in her ears. I explained that there a gun that they would use. After a moment of silence she replied" Are they going to shoot from a distance? "
Just a thought of my child running around in the store and a clerk trying to shoot her with a staple gun loaded with earrings made really amused me :)

Another winter day in Wisconsin
Another winter day in Wisconsin has started... Husband and kids went to work and school respectively so I can work from home. Working from home has many privileges, I don't have to run like crazy in the morning trying to get ready myself and get the kids ready for school. I walk around in my bathrobe, get them out of the house and work for a while.
Interesting things are happening at work. Although our company posted record earnings last year and projected good earnings this year, they are still laying off(excuse me, resourcing) some people in our department. I don't like anticipating bad things :(
Kids are fine and fun. Emily, who is 9, recently told me "Mom, you don't have to constantly make me do stuff. I am a good kid. I get good grades and I have never been arrested". :) Yesterday, I registered Simon, who is almost 4 for school. He is going to go to K-4 in September. I can't wait for that excitement - both kids on the same bus out of the house at 8 in the morning !
My daughter is taking piano lessons and seems to be enjoying it. The music teacher is a very nice good looking guy who is patient with her - what's not to like :). I remembered my childhood music lessons(7 years of horrible experience with a teacher that was never happy) and decided to see if I still got it.. After a 20 year break, I still got it :) I played Fur Elise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQTTFUtMSvQ and Moonlight sonata http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQVeaIHWWck not as good as you can hear them on youtube, but my husband and kids were impressed :)
All right, back to work...
A couple of days ago I had a instant messenger meeting with a customer from another, much warmer country. When I told him that the temperatures in Wisconsin reached -25 C(-15 F) last week, he terrifyingly asked "They don't make you work in this weather, right?" :)
It is 20 F today and they still make us work...

Inauguration - Shmenauguration....
That's what I said this morning.... However, I could not stop watching the continuous coverage of this event. I thought it was wonderful, inspiring, well organized and patriotic. I thought the speech was great. I also thought there were two very happy men there - Bush and Obama. One is happy because he is DONE and the other one is just euphoric because he is caught in the hype of the moment. Tomorrow is a first of Obama era and I want to see what he can do...
Bush flying away on the helicopter reminded me of 1980 Moscow Olympics where the Bear mascot flew away during the closing ceremony -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX9N3Vj6ES8 although the mood of the people was different :)
The excitement of African Americans and everybody else was indescribable. I suppose, if we ever elect a Jewish president I would be screaming of the top of my lungs too. :) But I think it is pretty wonderful that we have a first African American president, it should end the history of racism, unequal rights and segregation that this country has. I hope it will inspire the people to strive for success, even if they don't think their dreams are possible.
Like my daugther just said " It is the most biggest event"
This is my first blog and I hope my writing will get better with each one...
I will post stories about our family and other less important events :)
be back soon...
